Monday, October 2, 2017
Omaha NE, October 2, 2017 – NTT Security, the specialized security company of NTT Group, announced strong support for National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its public and private partners, including the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA). The company is planning to release new blog postings and other supportive information each week in October with specific cybersecurity themes to help raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and individual cyber hygiene.
"As a global leader in cybersecurity monitoring, threat assessment, and proactive managed security, NTT Security is well aware of the nature of the current cybersecurity threats, which have been increasing in frequency and intensity over recent years," commented Mike Hrabik, CTO and Regional CEO, US for NTT Security. "We strongly support DHS's efforts to raise awareness and encourage organizations and individuals to strengthen their defenses, and will do our part to provide leading-edge educational information and Threat Intelligence to increase threat awareness with techniques and solutions to reduce risk."
This year, NCSAM will consist of five weekly themed periods that will cover a wide range of applicable security topics. The goal is to provide actionable information that will help individuals, and organizations in every market sector, understand how they can take action to improve cybersecurity. The five weekly topics are:
- Week 1: October 2-6, 2017 – Theme: Simple Steps to Online Safety
- Week 2: October 9-13, 2017 – Theme: Cybersecurity in the Workplace is Everyone's Business
- Week 3: October 16-20, 2017 – Theme: Today's Predictions for Tomorrow's Internet
- Week 4: October 23-27, 2017 – Theme: The Internet Wants YOU: Consider a Career in Cybersecurity
- Week 5: October 30-31, 2017 – Theme: Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Cyber Threats
NCSAM-related activities will be marked with the #CyberAware hashtag, highlighting participation and support for the NCSAM goals on our blog pages and via social media.
NTT Security is adding the special NCSAM activities on top of a robust analysis and educational program that includes, for example, annual threat reports, known as the Global Threat Intelligence Report (GTIR), which analyzes global threat trends based on log, event, attack, and incident and vulnerability data from clients.
